This is where the customer believes the process stops for them. The people call in to the commercial and then get a 3rd party operator who takes their info and gives it to you. They tell you that there is "no cold calling". You work for a company who calls the elderly procrastinatiors who need life insurance. This is where insurance agents go to settle. I love sales and this industry, but I need to be passionate about what I am selling and not to mention feel good about how it’s going to affect/benefit my customer after I - more. You are really only selling one product which is the guaranteed acceptance and it is not in everyone’s best interest. That was really annoying because now you feel that you aren’t giving your customer the service they deserve. You’re basically wasting precious time that you could have used to sell two other people just to call one person back. Their software is old and it takes you forever to try to go back and call someone back. You have to try to sell them on the spot because they really have no way of calling you back to talk to you personally. You literally repeat yourself over and over and over again. The problem for me was that it was an unbelievably boring job for the outbound team. Once you do start making commission, it is decent. There is a waiting period to start making commission but the time frame really didn’t match up for me with what they told me when I was hired. They are called a lot until they answer and some people can get a little crabby when they first answer, but nothing bad and you can normally always at least get them to hear you out since they are the ones looking for quotes and you are the licensed agent. You are on an auto dialer calling people back that requested info and some may think they will get it by mail, but the leads are ok. I worked for Colonial Penn for about three months in a call center environment from home.
