Don't use things like tomatoes (at least not a TON) or anything else acidic as it will just tear away the iron. This is not a catch-all pan, but it is extremely useful. plus Lodge takes all the seasoning work out for you. They are pretty darn useful and not that expensive. Pans: (EDIT, just had to add this) You should invest in a cast iron skillet. but Teflon pans and woks are pretty much always better cheaper. Good pans can be worth your money if you use them. There are some things worth paying a pretty penny for, and there are some that are actually better cheap. Research: If you're going to buy anything, do some research. I like the epicurean ones, they are dishwasher safe and require no oiling. EDIT 2: Get a good cutting board and take care of that too. honing it regularly really will extend the life of the edge. You can do pretty much everything with it, it is always my go-to knife. EDIT: If you get only one good knife (and I promise you, you'll buy more).
